15 May 150th Birthday Celebrations for Stoneham at GD Live
It’s a big year for our client, Stoneham Kitchens; the company was established in 1864, so turns 150 this year! Grand Designs Live 2014 was a perfect opportunity to throw a celebration, showing off brand new ranges, cutting edge kitchen design and announcing the winners of the Kitchen of the Future and Stoneham Doodle competitions!
Visitors to the 85m² Stoneham stand were treated to a timeline charting key kitchen and design trends and notable historic events; unfolding around the stand, it documented the beginnings of E.G Stoneham and Son as a wood turning business in Sidcup, London, in 1864 through to the present day. We produced all the copy and concept for the timeline, ready for the Stoneham designers to assemble.
Whilst exploring the rich heritage of the company, the Stoneham stand also looked forward to the future of design, proudly displaying entries for Kitchen of the Future and Stoneham Doodle competitions by pupils from schools in Bexley and Bromley, which were organised by the RONIN PR team. From conception, to contacting schools, creating a buzz on social media and building a Stoneham Flickr page, right through to organising speakers and collateral, the campaign was a huge success!
The winners and runners up of each age category were invited to attend Grand Designs as Stoneham’s special guests, and the prize giving took place on Sunday 11 May at the Stoneham stand. Stoneham Managing Director, Adrian Stoneham, thanked the schools and students for participation and presented them with their prizes – an Amazon gift voucher, cheques for the schools and certificates decorated with each winning design, courtesy of RONIN Designer, Carolyn. We also designed a commemorative mug, featuring the winning Stoneham logo doodles, which was awarded to all prize winners.
Mrs Lesley Burgess, Senior Lecturer in Art, Design & Museology Institute of Education, University of London, also said a few words before posing for photos with Adrian, Sales Director, Howard Stoneham and the talented winners. It was a great way to wrap up the Grand Designs Live celebrations.
