27 Feb RONIN Meet the team – James
My name is James Sims, I am 19 years old and am currently undergoing a week of work experience as a RONIN intern.
In my spare time I enjoy playing sports, such as hockey and cricket. I currently play hockey at Bromley and Beckenham HC and have been a member there for the past three years. Previously, I played for New Beccs HC which is where I met Steve (one of RONIN’s Directors).
At school my main passion was sport and I was the school hockey captain for six years. I was lucky enough to go on two hockey tours to Malaysia and Singapore in 2018, South Africa in 2016 and a cricket tour to Barbados in 2017.
Media Studies was my favourite subject at school, as I felt that it was the most relevant subject to the world that we live in today, with almost everything we see and do being related to the media.
When it comes to digital marketing, I find social media very interesting because, as a teenager, most of my life is spent staring at my phone on various social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter. At RONIN I think that I’ll be most interested in learning about this side of the business.
I have applied to begin a two-year carpentry apprenticeship in September, which I will study at Bromley College. Until then, I am working at a construction company, Hooper-Brown Construction, as a labourer. I would still like to gain experience in different industries before I start my course, and working in the advertising industry is still an interest of mine, so gaining this experience as a RONIN intern will be beneficial in helping inform the career path that I choose.
