10 May RONIN Ninja’s run 312 miles for charity
On your marks, get set, go! That is exactly what we are doing throughout May. The RONIN Ninja’s (do you like our name? we love it!) will be hitting the local streets as part of our 15th Anniversary to tackle the MyMarathon challenge set up by the British Heart Foundation. Our 12 Ninja’s will complete 312 miles (26.2 miles each) with the goal to raise £2620.
Over 31 days we will be putting our best foot forward, dressed in a special, Ninja t-shirt, created by our design team, to raise money for the The British Heart Foundation. This charity is close to the heart of RONIN’s chief Ninja, Managing Director, Steve Lipscombe.
“25 years ago my father suffered a heart attack while at work,” said Lipscombe. “It was a huge blow to him and our family but he was able to get back on track, taking each day step-by-step, and making significant changes to his health and lifestyle. Now 87, my dad is enjoying life and still puts a smile on our faces. I really want to encourage my staff to take this approach and to keep active, while having fun. This is a fantastic charity that we are proud to be supporting.”
Chief Ninja Lipscombe already began motivating all of us in April gifting us with Fitbit activity trackers to help us boost our fitness. This also sparked some healthy competition, with each Ninja trying to outdo one another on their daily steps! Furthermore, Lipscombe will be reaching for his pocket should the RONIN Ninja’s reach their target of £2620.
“It has been great to see my staff so enthusiastic about MyMarathon, especially as one or two preferred to do a cake eating competition for charity! They have been raising the bar with their walking but now the real challenge begins with running. I will be donating an additional £1000 to the British Heart Foundation if we hit our target. We hope the local community, our friends and family will support our movements for such a good cause. Keep your eye peeled for a ninja coming your way soon!” concludes Lipscombe.
