16 Jun Ronin revitalises Brownhill’s branding
We are excited to unveil the revitalised branding that we recently created for Brownhill Insurance Group. Brownhill was the winner of the competition we ran in conjunction with Bromley FC, offering fellow sponsors the opportunity to win a complete rebrand of their company worth £7,000.
For Brownhill, a family-run insurance brokerage based in Bromley and formed in 1980, the timing could not have been better. Recognising it was time for a change, the owners were already looking to refresh their brand to help maximise future business opportunities.
Part of the challenge was to create a brand identity that reflected the company’s family heritage, and during our research and planning we discovered that the Brownhill name dates back to the Middle Ages and they have a family crest which incorporated a chevron on a shield – both are symbols that represent ‘protection’. It was a perfect fit for an insurance company.
We explored numerous design concepts and ideas, using both the shield and chevron, whilst also testing different colour palettes and typography. The final design was based on reimagining the traditional shield shape as something much more contemporary – utilising the chevron to not only represent ‘protection’, but also forming a modern graphic that hints at offering ‘guidance’.
In addition to creating a new identity for the group, we also developed logos for two sub-brands, Brownhill’s commercial and private insurance divisions, each using colours that work alongside the main group identity.
As well as taking pride of place on the sleeve of Bromley FC’s first team next season, the new brand identity will be applied across all aspects of the business, including print and digital assets, and sponsorship and marketing channels.
We’re happy to say that everyone at Brownhill was delighted with the end result.
Ben Henderson, Managing Director at Brownhill Insurance Group said: “I was really impressed with how much work and research was involved with a rebrand. We’re really grateful for the great job the team at RONIN has done and we’re delighted with the final result.”
“We really enjoyed working on this project with Brownhill. It was a lot of fun and I think the Ronin team did a fantastic job creating a stunning new brand, which is both contemporary and wonderfully representative of the company’s family values and heritage.” – Steve Lipscombe, Director Ronin Marketing
Mick Livesey, Head of Sponsorship and Partnership at Bromley FC said: “Steve and everyone at Ronin Marketing contribute so much more to the football club than just sponsorship. They add real value and it was amazing they ran a competition among our partners for a free brand audit and design. Congratulations to Brownhill Insurance, the new logo looks terrific and we are looking forward to seeing on the first team shirts next season.”
