Social Media, SEO and Summer: RONIN visit Marketing Week Live 2014

Summer is here, and with it a season of sport, longer days and fresh marketing ideas; so on June 26th the RONIN PR team took a trip to Olympia Grand, London, for Marketing Week Live 2014.

The event boasts four zones – Understand, Engage, Experience and Convert – to explore, and a program jam-packed with talks and conferences, so we struggled to squeeze everything in.

With lots of exciting new marketing campaigns planned for the rest of the year, we made sure we had time to visit a talk describing how to add a personal touch to direct marketing called ‘People buy from people; how to add humanity into your email program’ by Skip Fedura of DotMailer.

After taking the opportunity to network (and have a cheeky look at our competition!) we finished the day by looking ahead to the future of the industry, with a conference by Thomas Brown of CIM and Duncan Daines of Gama Aviation called ‘Fit-for-future’ marketing: the CMOs priorities.’

The takeaways from the event? Content is still king, and social media is still one of the best ways to distribute it, but marketers should avoid becoming a one-trick pony, and need to be able to combine offline and online campaigns to yield real results.

Oh, and a handful of pens and packs of jelly beans!
